Intro Home News Racing Media Calendar Charity Cross-book The X Mark NewsSnow and sleet give Crossey a white start to the season.05/02/12 - The snow was beating down as the PFI circuit in Lincolnshire saw Crossey back on track for the first time in 2012. Friday and Saturday were both run in dry but frosty conditions, with Crossey showing the winter break had done him wonders. Friends noticed a reinvigoration as he set a string of laps in cold conditions, consistently around the 1min and 9 tenths mark, over 3 tenths up on his nearest competitor.By race day on Sunday, the snow was in full flow. Qualifying didn’t go Crossey’s way as technical issue due to the low pressure in the air saw him qualifying down in 5th, which he converted into 2nd in both Finals, a meagre reward for a weekend spent setting the pace. Ash stated after the race “It’s unfortunate that we were on the receiving end of some aggressive racing in the first laps of both finals, giving the leader a irrepressible cushion”, on the subject of how his first club event of the season sets him up for the rest of the season he replied in typical fashion “It’s all about making sure the pace is strong each and every weekend, so that come the 21st of April, pace is the last thing we have to worry about”.Ash Crossey will be back on track for the Shenington Kart Club meeting on the weekend of the 19th of February near Banbury, Oxfordshire. Meanwhile he will be representing Plymouth University in the BUKC (British University Karting Championship) at Teesside Autodrome on the 15th. Crossey Joins KR-Sport with sights set firmly on the British Title14/01/12 - The Winter break has seen little action for Crossey on track but plenty of it as he sealed a drive with KR racing in the TKM class for the 2012 season at the Autosport International show at the NEC in Birmingham, fending off interest from a Formula Renault team. This will see Ash in the 7 round ABkC Super One British Championship alongside prestigious single events such as the ‘0’ Plate at Rowrah, ‘GP’ plate at the PFI, TKM Festival at Kimbolton as well as numerous club events starting from the 5th of February at the PFI. All of which will are showcased on the calendar page of the site for your convenience. Alongside this Ash will be competing for Plymouth University in the Uni championships whilst he studies for a degree in Product Design.Speaking at the Autosport International show, Crossey said “we won’t be accepting anything but a win this season, I feel it’s long overdue”. Crossey enjoys new Surroundings15/02/12 - Ash Crossey starred in his first British Universities Karting Championship (BUKC) event at Teesside Autodrome which hosted the first two rounds. Having never seen the track before Ash was impressed by the series of high speed cambered corners which created a good fast flowing race circuit. With the random grid allocations in place Ash took the rear grid slot for his team in the morning sprint races, after starting 29th Ash carved his way through the field, catching the leading pack in the final couple of laps which wasn’t enough for him to challenge for the lead, finishing in a respectable 4th. For Round 2 and the relays, Ash was partnered up with teammate Matt Brierley, before the driver change at the first round of pit stops, Ash had risen up to 4th from starting 36th due to the random grid allocations, in only 13 laps this showed an impressive amount of race craft from the University Student. Unfortunately all of Ash’s hard work was undone as Matt had a calamitous stint putting them back to 18th before Ash’s final stint got them back to a sympathetic 10th. What Ash showed is a tremendous ability of learning a track and being bang on the pace whilst driving karts that weren’t set neither up for his driving style nor for the cold conditions. The journey to Teesside hadn’t gone particularly smoothly as Ash’s car battery went flat, resulting in many a jump starts. A Week of Whilton 01/03/12 - With Whilton Mill a constant feature of the British championships, it is imperative that Crossey gets plenty of track time at the venue, whether racing or testing, for the arrival of the new Super 1 season. At the monthly club meeting on 26th February, Ash made sure he made the most of the last chance to get on the Northamptonshire track before its hosting of the second British championships round. Ash set the pace throughout Saturday whilst testing various components, showing signs of real speed. Come Sunday and it had all changed, using his second engine in the heats, pace wasn’t always available. Ash also had issues getting grip from his tyres straight from the off which left Ash starting 3rd for the final which due to unfortunate reasons was cut short just as Ash was getting into the zone. This left Crossey classified 2nd, setting the fastest lap on the final tour, nearly two tenths up from what anyone else could set. Just four days later Ash was back at Whilton Mill for Plymouth University's BUKC cause, starting 19th he got up to 4th in just 3 laps, and after a tussle with Swansea, a snapped stub axle ended his race. Lap Record Shattered at PF International!01/04/12 - A final preparation weekend for the British Championships at PFi in Lincoln saw Crossey steal the lap record from the competition. After a steady set of finishes in the heats, Crossey put it on an average 4th place for the final and taking the lead early on. Misfortune on the last few laps saw him lose momentum after being ditched on the grass, resulting in a rather disappointing 9th position finish. The first time off of the podium in 5 months! Back on the Podium for Crossey!08/04/12 - After a rather disappointing result the previous weekend, Ash and the team were back and finishing at the front in Dorchester on Sunday. After a race long battle involving his former team mate, Crossey fininshed 2nd, putting him in a good position for the British Championship opener in 2 weeks time. As well as returning to the podium, Ash set yet another fastest lap, for the 6th time this year! Ash is hoping for a good start to his 2012 S1 British Championship campign, with the aim to make it an uphill haul all year for his competitors.
